Avian Odyssey
at Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, FL
Ernesto Maranje teamed up with the Broward County Cultural Division for their public art project. He completed the Harbormaster Tower at Port Everglades in 2019.
Avian Odyssey features a ruby-throated hummingbird and an American white ibis, both native Florida birds. The birds symbolize the Port’s connection to nature. They can be seen by cruise passengers, boaters and anyone else visiting Port Everglades.
The mural was the 2021 winner of the NACo Achievement Award in Arts, Culture and Historic Preservation for Broward County. It was also named Fort Lauderdale Magazine’s “Best Mural” of 2021.
