Wynwood Walls / Goldman Global Arts

Ernesto and Goldman Global Arts have worked together on many mural installations over the years. Ernesto has had the honor to paint in Wynwood Walls in 2019 and 2021, when he painted Sentries and Planes of Perception.

aptART

Grace (2017)

Ernesto has worked with Samantha Robison of aptART on mural projects in Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Greece and Portland. The organization’s aim is to use art to empower the youth in those communities to express themselves through the arts while promoting prevention about issues affecting their lives.

Animals (2016)

Unconventional Group

Ernesto has partnered with Unconventional Group for many mural projects that engage the community with public art.

The Frank C. Ortis Art Gallery and Exhibit Hall

The Frank C. Ortis Art Gallery & Exhibit Hall is a multidisciplinary art gallery and exhibition hall. Ernesto painted the mural Florida Wildlife at the Frank for the gallery’s grand opening in 2017.

Beyond Walls

Ernesto teamed up with Beyond Walls, a non-profit that uses murals to connect and enrich urban areas, to create In Good Company. The mural features a rhino and bear cub.

Education

University of Florida

Ernesto worked with the Institute of Hispanic-Latino Cultures at the University of Florida to paint Abuelita. The mural was painted at IHL’s “La Casita.” It features a grandmother in her garden surrounded by plants and animals, each of which represents a Latin or Hispanic country, which in turn represents the IHL student body.

Florida Atlantic University

Ernesto worked with Unconventional Group to paint the mural FAU Owl on the Florida Atlantic University campus. Students came out and painted with Ernesto to complete the mural.

Environment

PangeaSeed Foundation / Sea Walls

Ernesto worked with the PangeaSeed Foundation’s Sea Walls initiative to create the mural With or Without Us to raise awareness for our oceans and climate change issues.

Before It’s Too Late

Ernesto worked with Before It’s Too Late to create the mural Native Song in North Miami’s Liberty Gardens Park. The mural features plants and animals native to south Florida, and an app was created (“Liberty Gardens AR”) so visitors can experience the mural in 3D and learn more about the environment.

Patch of Heaven Sanctuary

Ernesto worked with Patch of Heaven Sanctuary on a mural for the entrance to their visitor center. It features native flora and fauna that can be found on the grounds, including birds, butterflies, bees and flowers.

Florida Wildlife Corridor Foundation

Ernesto had the pleasure to paint a mural at the Florida Wildlife Corridor Foundation’s headquarters in St. Pete, Florida.

The foundation’s goal is to permanently connect, protect and restore the Florida Wildlife Corridor with the help of conservation science, education, and the community.

The mural features a great blue heron and other native Florida wildlife, including a Florida black bear, swallowtail kite, river otter, gopher tortoise, and Florida alligator.

Community

Big Brothers Big Sitsters

Ernesto and the Wynwood Walls Foundation teamed up to paint the mural Nature’s Embrace for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Miami.

The mural depicts large animals (a cougar, a black bear, and a wolf) painted in a landscape with smaller animals (sandhill cranes, a flamingo, and a sloth), which represents the relationships built at Big Brothers Big Sisters.

Port Everglades

Ernesto worked with the Broward County Cultural Division to paint the mural Avian Odyssey at Port Everglades on the Harbormaster Tower.

The mural can be seen by cruise ship passengers, boaters, or anyone visiting Port Everglades.

The mural was the 2021 winner of the NACo Achievement Award in Arts, Culture and Historic Preservation for Broward County. It was also named Fort Lauderdale Magazine’s “Best Mural” of 2021.

Camillus House

Ernesto worked with Unconventional Group to paint a mural at Camillus House, an organization dedicated to serving the homeless in Miami-Dade county.

p:ear

Ernesto teamed up with aptART and p:ear to create the mural The Guardian. p:ear is an organization that mentors homeless youth in Portland, Oregon.

Kids came out and helped Ernesto paint the mural, and hopefully learned about creating mural art.

The Lighthouse of Broward County

Ernesto worked with Unconventional Group to paint the mural Main Course at the Lighthouse of Broward County, an organization that serves the visually-impaired.

International

The UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR)

aptART partnered with UNHCR, Qandil LCN (Legal Clinic Network) and Intersos Erbil Office during World Refugee Day 2017 to bring art and awareness to affected communities. While Ernesto visited the country, aptART held painting workshops for kids in host communities. After the workshops, the children helped Ernesto paint a mural in their neighborhood.
